Around and Stop

Dave has been working on being able to draw a circle for over a year now.  A year ago he was not really able to make more than very light (almost invisible!) marks on paper with a crayon.  After working in occupational therapy, he was able to replicate a horizontal line fairly quickly.....but the circle has been a work in progress for a long time.

His old OT (I miss her so!) was such a sweet and kind person.  Dave took to her instantly.  I wish she could see that Dave has finally figured out the circle!  She would work with him multiple times a week, and I would work with him each night.  Arooooooooound and STOP!  After a while we were able to get a series of swirls.  Progress!

Here we are a year later and he can consistently draw a circle-ish shape without a ton of overlap.

So proud of him...can you imagine working for a whole year to do something so simple? The frustration would overwhelm me.  He sticks with it and works hard.

He likes to draw faces.  A series of horizontal and vertical lines for eyes, nose, mouth.  This one is our dog, Katie.  I told him to give her legs and ears.  She has Shrek ears, evidentely ;)
